[edit]From Middle Iranian *frēstak. Compare Avestan 𐬟𐬭𐬀𐬉𐬱𐬙𐬀 (fraēšta, “messenger”), Middle Persian plystk' (frēstag, “apostle, angel”) / prystg, Persian فرشته (ferešte, “angel”), and Jewish Babylonian Aramaic פְּרֵיסְתְּקָא (pərêstəqāʾ, “royal guard, messenger”).
