From the masculine imperative of ܦܵܐܹܫ (pāˀēš, “to remain”) +‎ ܫܲܝܢܵܐ (šaynā, “safety”), literally “remain in safety”; compare Arabic مَعَ ٱلسَّلَامَةِ (maʕa s-salāmati).
