• Diminutive of a cognate to Classical Syriac ܥܪܣܐ (ʿarsā, “bed”); compare Hebrew עַרסָל (ʿarsāl, “hammock, sling”).
• From the root ܥ ܙ ܠ (ˁ z l), related to spinning yarn.

Compare Classical Syriac ܥܪܙܠܐ (ʿarzālā, ʿerzālā, “hut”).

     And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
