[edit]From ܢܓܪܐ (naggārāʾ, “carpenter”), from Akkadian 𒉄 (naggāru [NAGAR]), from Sumerian 𒉄 (nagar) + the abstract noun ending -ܘܬܐ (-ūṯāʾ). Compare Hebrew נַגָּרוּת (naggārûṯ).
