Etymology

From ܢܒܝܐ (nəḇīyāʾ, prophet), from Hebrew נָבִיא (nāḇîʾ) + the abstract noun ending -ܘܬܐ (-ūṯāʾ). Compare Arabic نُبُوءَة (nubūʔa) and Hebrew נְבִיאוּת (nəḇîʾûṯ).
