From Northern Kurdish مام (mam, paternal uncle) +‎ -ܘܿܢܵܐ (-onā, the diminuitive ending), from Arabic أَعْمام (ʔaʕmām, paternal uncles). Doublet of ܥܲܡܵܐ (ʿamā).
