Assyrian Neo-Aramaic
[edit]
ܠܹܬ • (lēt) m
- (slang) Contraction of ܠܹܐ ܝܘܸܬ (lē ìwet, “You are not”).
ܠܬ ܚܕܝܐ؟ ܚܫܝܒ ܠܝ ܕܡܘܒܣܡ ܠܘܟ.- lēt ḥidyā? ḥšiḇ lī d-mubsim luḵ.
- Aren’t you happy? I thought you had fun.
- Despite the full formal masculine form being ܠܹܐ ܝܘܸܬ (lē ìwet) and the feminine being ܠܹܐ ܝܘܵܬܝ (lē ìwāt), this is used regardless of gender.
