Etymology

From ܕܵܣܸܢ (dāsin, region of Dasen) +‎ -ܝܐ (-āyā, the attributive adjective ending). Though originally denoting anyone from the region of Dasen or Beth Dasen in Adiabene, it later came to be applied strictly to Yezidis.
