From the root ܓ-ܙ-ܙ (ɡ-z-z) related to shearing. Compare Arabic جِزَّة (jizza), Hebrew גִּזָּה (gizzâ) and Akkadian 𒄀𒄑𒍝𒌅 (gi-iz-za-tu /⁠gizzatu⁠/, shearing).
