Etymology

An acronym of six Syriac letters: ܒ (bêṯ) + ܓ (gāmal) + ܕ (dālaṯ) + ܟ (kāp̄) + ܦ () + ܬ (taw). Compare Hebrew בֶּגֶ״ד כֶּפֶ״ת (béḡeḏ kép̄eṯ).
