Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yạŕtuk (“pillow”); cognate with Azerbaijani yastıq, Bashkir яҫтыҡ (yaśtıq), Chuvash ҫытар (śyt̬ar), Kazakh жастық (jastyq), Kyrgyz жаздык (jazdık), Turkmen ýassyk, Uyghur ياستۇق (yastuq), Uzbek yostiq and Yakut сыттык (sıttık).

- pad, cushion, bolster, a flattened mass of anything soft, like wool, used to sit or lie on
