From Sanskrit गन्धपूरिका (gandhapūrikā), from गन्ध (gandha, scent, fragrance) +‎ पूर (pūra, full) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Cognate with Kalasha gambúri.
