Etymology
[edit]From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (gšnyc /gišnīz/, “coriander”).[2] Cognate with Central Kurdish گژنیژ (gijnîj), Baluchi [script needed] (gēnīč). Compare the Iranian borrowings: Old Armenian գինձ (ginj), Old Georgian ქინძი (kinʒi), Mandarin 胡荽 (húsuī).
