[edit]Etymology
[edit]Disputed. Could be from an earlier *کوژدوشَک = کوژ (kuž, “convex”) + دوش (duš, “shoulder, back”) + ـک (-ak, diminutive suffix), "the little hunchback" (also see گوژپُشت), or from کُش (koš) + شَتو (šatu) + زَک (zak), literally “the killer of aphid pests”. Analyzable in Modern Persian as کفشدوز (kafš-duz, “shoe maker”) + ـک (ak, diminutive suffix), literally “the little shoemaker” (etymologically debunked).
