Appearance
Sindhi
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit धानेय (dhāneya, “coriander”), perhaps originally an adjective from धाना (dhānā, “grain”), due to a comparison of coriander seeds with grass (probably wheat) grains, from Proto-Indo-Aryan *dʰaHnáH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰaHnáH, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰoHnéh₂.[1] Cognate with Gujarati ધાણા (dhāṇā).
