Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *čebre (“circle, circumference”), a development from the root *čebir- (“to twist, turn”), whence چویرمك (çevirmek, “to turn over, to turn around”). Cognate with Azerbaijani çevrə, Chuvash ҫавра (śavra) and Turkmen çöwre.

- circuit, contour, outline, the circumference of, or distance around, any space, the measure of a line around an area or an object
- periphery, surroundings, the area encircling someone or something, together with the objects and circumstances in the vicinity
- Synonym: اطراف (etraf)
- kind of white muslin, handkerchief commonly decorated and edged with gold or silver embroidery, sometimes worn on the head
