Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Prakrit चंदभागा (caṃdabhāgā), from Sanskrit चन्द्रभागा (candrabhāgā), from चन्द्र (candra) + भाग (bhāga) + -आ (-ā, feminine suffix). Compare Punjabi جَھناں (jhanāṉ) / ਝਨਾਂ (jhanā̃) and Hindustani چَنَاب (canāb) / चनाब (canāb).
