From Proto-Turkic *yarpuŕ.[1] Cognates with Karakhanid یَرْبُزْ (yarpuz), Turkish yarpuz, Uzbek yalpiz. Also, Compare to Southern Altai јалаҥ (ǰalaŋ), etc.
