[edit]From earlier هَنْدَزَة (handaza), from هَنْدَاز (handāz), borrowed from Middle Persian handʾc- (handāz-), hndʾhtn' (handāxtan, “to plan, to allot, to reckon, to judge”), or hndʾck' (handāzag, “measure, manner”) (> Persian اندازه (andâza)).
