From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (m(y)znydy /⁠miznē⁠/), [Book Pahlavi needed] (mwznydyy /⁠muznē⁠/, cloud, mist), from Proto-Iranian *miznya-, *mizniya-, derivative to the term continued as Persian مه (meh, fog). Akin to Arabic مُزْنَة (muzna), an Iranian borrowing.
