Etymology
[edit]Apparently diminutive of a *كَمِيت (*kamīt) as a passive participle from كَمَتَ (kamata, “to cover”), and that an extension of a form from the root ك م م (k-m-m) related to “covering, enveloping”, hence something “shaded” in skin-colour.
