Etymology
[edit]Perhaps formed by physicians from the Arabic root ق د م (q-d-m) related to “advancing, pressing forward” – both possible patterns – as medical practitioners employed the seed mucilage of Alyssum homolocarpum to expectorate and purge kidney stones.
