  1. ^ Neda Valipour (2024 January 30) “«قایم‌موشک» در اصل چه بوده است؟ [What was "hide and seek" originally called?]”, in Iranian Students' News Agency[1] (in Persian):ام این بازی در اصل قایم‌باشک است؛ قایم + باش + پسوند اسم‌سازِ «ک». طی فرایندی به نام همگونی (به دلیل سهولت تلفظ)، حرف «ب» باشک در کنار «م» قایم تبدیل به ماشک شده است.The original name of this game is qaim-bashak; Qaim + bash + the noun-forming suffix 'k'. Through a process called assimilation (due to ease of pronunciation), the letter 'b' in 'bashak' and the 'm' in 'qaim' turned into 'mashk'.
