Inherited from Proto-Turkic *karga (crow); cognate with Azerbaijani qarğa, Bashkir ҡарға (qarğa), Kazakh қарға (qarğa), Kyrgyz карга (karga), Tatar карга (qarga), Turkmen garga, Uyghur قاغا (qagha) and Uzbek qargʻa.
