عنبرنسارا
Appearance
Persian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Historically written as عنبرنصارا, which seems to be عنبر (ambar, “ambergris”) + نصارا (nasârâ, “Christians”). Perhaps an ironic pun on عنبر سارا (ambar-e sârâ, “pure ambergris”), influenced by the well-known Christian and Islamic story of Jesus riding a donkey into Jerusalem.
Pronunciation
[edit]- (Iran, formal) IPA(key): [ʔæm.bæɹ.ne.sɒː.ɹɒ́ː]
