Moroccan Arabic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain, while suggested Latin haedulus or Ancient Greek τράγος (trágos) perhaps via Berber, absent in Andalusian Arabic and Maltese and maybe continues a term from the root ع ت ر (ʕ-t-r) whence e.g. عَتِيرَة (ʕatīra, “goat used for sacrifice”)
