[edit]From Proto-Semitic *θ̣aby-. Compare Aramaic טַבְיָא (ṭaḇyā), Classical Syriac ܛܒܝܐ (ṭaḇyā), Hebrew צְבִי (ts'ví, ṣəḇī), Ugaritic 𐎑𐎁𐎊 (ẓby).
