[edit]Borrowed from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (tasūg), equivalent to Classical Persian تسو (tasū).

[edit]طَسُّوج • (ṭassūj) m (plural طَسَاسِيج (ṭasāsīj))
- a weight measure, 1⁄24 of a مِثْقَال (miṯqāl) or 1.8 grams, from the Safavids in the 16th century 0.195 gram = the later Egyptian قِيرَاط (qīrāṭ)
- a. 1348, Ibn Al-ʔAkfānīy, كتاب نخب الذخائر في أحوال الجواه:
- في الدولة العباسية فإن الغالب من قيمته أن الجيد منه إذا كان وزن طسوج يساوي خمسة دنانير
- In the Abbasid Empire the price for a good one (a rubin, (يَاقُوت (yāqūt)) was generally, if weighing a ṭassūj, at five dinars.
