[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *subsa- (“to thirst”); cognate with Azerbaijani susamaq, Bashkir һыуһау (hıwhaw), Kazakh сусау (susau), Kyrgyz суусоо (suusoo), Turkmen suwsamak, Tuvan суксаар (suksaar), Uyghur ئۇسسۇماق (ussumaq) and Uzbek suvsamoq.
