سوسمار

Persian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Ultimately from Sanskrit शिशुमार (śiśumāra, “alligator; river dolphin”), from शिशु (śiśu, “child”) + मार (māra, “killing”). سوس (sus, “(rare) lizard”) is a backformation from a reanalysis of the second element as مار (mâr, “snake”).
