سَائِمَة (sāʔimaf (plural سَوَائِم (sawāʔim))

  1. cattle pasturing freely
    • 7th century CE, Sunan Abī Dāwud, 16:43:
      فِي كُلِّ سَائِمَةٍ فَرَعٌ تَغْذُوهُ مَاشِيَتُكَ حَتَّى إِذَا ٱسْتَحْمَلَ
      fī kulli sāʔimatin faraʕun taḡḏūhu māšiyatuka ḥattā ʔiḏā staḥmala
      On every pasturing animal there is a firstling that your cattle feeds until it becomes capable of carrying a load.
