Unknown; presumably related to زویج (zevij, zavij), زونیج (zevanij), زونج (zevanj, sausage), compare also Central Kurdish زونگ (zung, sausage) and Northern Kurdish ziving (cave, winter quarters). Nişanyan argues a Turkic origin, see more in sucuk.[1]
