Etymology
[edit]Unknown; presumably related to زویج (zevij, zavij), زونیج (zevanij), زونج (zevanj, “sausage”), compare also Central Kurdish زونگ (zung, “sausage”) and Northern Kurdish ziving (“cave, winter quarters”). Nişanyan argues a Turkic origin, see more in sucuk.[1]
