Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian سنبه (sunba, “punch, wimble”), a word deriving from the verb سفتن (suftan, “to bore, drill, penetrate”).

1. punch, puncheon, a device used for creating holes in thin material, or to stamp or emboss a mark or design on a surface
2. stapler, a device which binds together sheets of paper by driving a metal staple through the sheets and folding the ends
