Etymology
[edit]From earlier form زلو (zalū) from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (złwk' /zalūg/) from Proto-Iranian *jaluš, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ȷ́aluš, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵelu-. Akin to Old Armenian տզրուկ (tzruk); an Iranian borrowing.
