Borrowed from Imperial Aramaic 𐡃𐡓𐡉𐡅𐡄𐡅𐡔 (drwš) or Ancient Greek Δαρεῖος (Dareîos), both ultimately from Old Persian 𐎭𐎠𐎼𐎹𐎺𐎢𐏁 (d-a-r-y-v-u-š /⁠Dārayavaʰuš⁠/).
