Etymology

Borrowed from Aramaic חִפּוּשִׂיתָא / חִיפּוּשִׂיתָא (ḥippūśīṯā), חִיפּוּשְׂתָא / חִפּוּשְׂתָא (ḥippūśtā, beetle, scarab) from the verb Proto-Semitic *ḥapaś- (to search together) not attested as such in Aramaic.
