[edit]Borrowed from Old Anatolian Turkish, being a compound of حسین (“[Imam] Husayn”) + Old Anatolian Turkish قلی (the possessed form of قل (“slave”)), literally “slave of [Imam] Husayn”; compare Azerbaijani Hüseynqulu, Chagatai حسینقلی, Turkish Hüseynkulu.
