[edit]From the root ح ذ ر (ḥ-ḏ-r) on the فَعَالِ (faʕāli) scale used to form a special group of words known in Arabic as أَسْمَاء أَفْعَال (ʔasmāʔ ʔafʕāl). Compare شَتَّانَ (šattāna) and سُرْعَان (surʕān).
