[edit]Pseudo-Arabism, from Arabic حَبْل (ḥabl, “rope”) + Arabic مَتِين (matīn, “robust”), in reference to Qur'an (in Arabic), 609–632 CE, 3:103. Compare Arabic حَبْل اللهِ الْمَتِين (ḥabl allāhi l-matīn, “Qur'an”).
