Relative adjective (nisba) composed of تَشْرِيع (tašrīʕ, legislation) +‎ ـِيّ (-iyy), from the root ش ر ع (š-r-ʕ) meaning “a means of access to something”, “a manner or way to something”, a “way or course”, hence by extension a “way of doing things”, a “law or established custom”, a “rule or legislation”.
