Etymology

Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish بُولَمَقْ (bulamaq), from Proto-Turkic *bulga- (to stir). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰉𐰆𐰞𐰍𐰀 (b¹ul¹ǧa /⁠bulɣa-⁠/), Azerbaijani bulamaq, Bashkir болғау (bolğaw), Chuvash пӑлхан (pălh̬an), Kazakh бұлғау (būlğau), Kyrgyz булгоо (bulgoo), Turkmen bulamak, Uyghur بۇلغىماق (bulghimaq) and Uzbek bulgʻamoq.
