[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bẹken- (“to feel joy, appreciate; to strive, hope”); cognate with Azerbaijani bəyənmək, Chuvash пикен (pik̬en), Karakhanid [script needed] (biken-) and Turkmen begenmek.
