[edit]Via an Aramaic dialect form equivalent Classical Syriac ܒܠܬܐ (balləṯā, “perfume flask, ampulla”) from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (pygʾl /*paygāl/, “goblet, chalice, cup”), which is in Persian پیاله (piyâla) and thence has been reborrowed in Arabic dialects as بيالة (biyāla, “cup”).

- والبألة: القارورة بلغة بلحارث، وهي بالنّبطية بالتّاء.
- Al-baʾla is the flask in the dialect of the Balḥāriṯ, and in Nabataean with [trailing] t.
