اِسْتَشَاطَ (istašāṭa) X (non-past يَسْتَشِيطُ (yastašīṭu), verbal noun اِسْتِشَاطَة (istišāṭa))

  1. to boil with rage, to be seething
    رَأَيْتُهُ يَسْتَشْطُ غَضَبًا عِنْدَمَا أُخْبِرُوهُ بِفَشَل الْمَشْرُوع الَّذِي عَمِلَ عَلَيْهِ لِأَشْهُر.
    raʔaytuhu yastašṭu ḡaḍaban ʕindamā ʔuḵbirūhu bifašal al-mašrūʕ allaḏī ʕamila ʕalayhi liʔašhur.
    I saw him raging when they informed him about the failure of the project he had worked on for months.
  2. to become angry [with عَلَى (ʕalā) ‘with someone’]
  3. to fight [with فِي () ‘in a war, etc.’]
  4. to fly briskly, to flutter (of a bird)
  5. to overdo [with فِي () ‘something, e.g. laughing’]
