Borrowed from Aramaic אֵסְכּוּפְתָא (ʾeskūp̄ətā) / אִיסְכּוּפְתָא (ʾiskūp̄ətā) ܐܶܣܟܽܘܦܬܳܐ (ʾeskūp̄əṯā, threshold, lintel), from Akkadian 𒄿𒇻 (KUN4 /⁠askuppatu⁠/, threshold, lintel), from 𒄿𒇻 (KUN4 /⁠askuppu⁠/, stone slab; threshold, lintel).
