Borrowed from Jewish Babylonian Aramaic תיקו (literally let it stand), used to indicate that a question remains undecided, apocopic form of earlier Aramaic תְּקוּם (təqūm), third-person singular feminine future tense of קָם (qām, to rise, to stand), cognate with Hebrew קָם (qām, to rise).
