שײַסע

Yiddish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Presumably borrowed from German Scheiße, from Middle High German schīze, from Proto-Germanic *skītaz, *skitiz, from Proto-Indo-European *skeyd- (“to part”). An inherited form would have likely resulted in *שײַס (*shays).
