1. First-person singular past (suffix conjugation) of שָׁמַע (shamá)
   • Tanach, Exodus 3:7, with translation of the King James Version:

     וְאֶת צַעֲקָתָם שָׁמַעְתִּי מִפְּנֵי נֹגְשָׂיו

     v'et tsaakatám shamá'ti mip'né nog'sáv

     and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters
