פָּטוּר אֲבָל אָסוּר • (patúr avál asúr) (feminine פְּטוּרָה אֲבָל אֲסוּרָה, masculine plural פְּטוּרִים אֲבָל אֲסוּרִים, feminine plural פְּטוּרוֹת אֲבָל אֲסוּרוֹת)

  1. (Jewish law) The act is forbidden but the person is exempted from punishment, typically due to having performed the prohibited act under coercion. (literally "exempt but forbidden")
