Etymology

חָלָב (khaláv, milk) +‎ ־וֹן (ón). The "protein" sense in Modern Hebrew is a semantic loan from German Eiweiß, paralleling many other languages.

חֶלְבּוֹן (khelbónm (plural indefinite חֶלְבּוֹנִים) [pattern: קִטְלוֹן]
